We discovered Wide Sands Beach Resort while exploring the coast around Medewi. We’d stopped for a glass of wine on our way back from a walk along the beach to Rambut Siwi Temple, and we liked the setting so much that we ended up staying for dinner.
It was a quiet afternoon when we visited, and the staff were happy for us to use the swimming pool and sun loungers while we were there.
Eating at Wide Sands
It’s the sort of place where you can easily see why you’d want to linger. After our initial glass of wine, we decided to stay on for dinner, opting for seafood and a curry while enjoying the relaxed atmosphere right by the sea.
The peaceful afternoon vibe definitely helped make it a memorable stop, and it left a really strong impression.
The pool and beach
One of the main reasons we stayed longer was the swimming pool.
The waiters kindly allowed us to use the pool and sun loungers. Because it was a quiet afternoon, it was a lovely way to spend a few hours unwinding by the water.
Obviously, pool access and arrangements can change, so it’s always worth checking with Wide Sands if you’re visiting specifically to use the pool without staying overnight.
Would we stay at Wide Sands?
We’d love to.
We’re not backpackers anymore, and Wide Sands is much more the sort of beachfront place we’d look to book when we next return to Medewi. We loved the combination of being right on the beach, having a pool on hand, and being able to sit down for a relaxed meal and a drink without needing to go anywhere else.
Since we only visited for the afternoon and dinner, this isn’t a full review of the accommodation itself. But based on what we saw, it went firmly onto our list of places we’d consider for a future stay.
Where is Wide Sands?
Wide Sands sits right on the coast in the Medewi area, with the beach practically at your doorstep. For us, that beachfront setting was the absolute main attraction—what started as a quick stop for a drink turned into an entire afternoon and evening by the sea.
Who might like Wide Sands Beach Resort?
If you’re looking for somewhere right by the beach with a pool, Wide Sands is well worth having a look at.
It feels quite different from the simple surf accommodation we stayed at during our trip. Ifs somewhere a bit more comfortable and with the option to split your time between the pool and the sand. This is much more our style.
